GRADES AND THEIR DEFINITIONS

Over the years I have seen several sites selling Out of Print goods on the internet. However, the majority of UK sites and some US sites only give you a price and the name of the product. When buying goods which are twenty to thirty years old and usually paper or card it is essential that you know what you are buying. There is a large variation in quality of these goods on the market from battered old versions to pristine mint ones and usually there are several editions or prints. The prices for these items is reflected by their condition and edition. The last thing you want is to buy an item expecting it to be a particular edition to find that it is a totally different version freely available and worthless. Because of this issue I am happy to give an honest and comprehensive description of the item next to its name. I also provide an image so you can be fully confident that it is indeed the one that you want. I have chosen to use the system devised by the Acaeum, which is the most comprehensive and straight forward that I have discovered. You will find this system explained below.

Shrinkwrapped Very Collectible UK Version
Sealed in the original shrinkwrap, from the publishing company. If an item is shrinkwrapped the condition is generally accepted to be a side issue as the important factor is that it has never been opened or tampered with since the day it was produced.
Mint Immaculate.  This copy had been protected from any noticeable damage or use.  Spine is sharp and unblemished, cover is bright and free from any dirt or fading.
Near Mint Copy has been read once or twice.  Less than three very minor spine creases.  Cover looks fresh and clean, right off the press, with perhaps only very minor fading.
Excellent Copy is in collectable condition.  May have been read, but spine creases are minor.  Slight cover scuffing or dirt may be present.
Very Good The "average" grade.  Copy has been used, and creasing on spine / cover scuff marks and/or dirt is evident (but not prominent).
Good Damage is present, but only minor tears, if any.  Spine may be severely worn and beginning to separate from staples.  A "used" copy.
Fair Pretty battered copy, but whole and complete.  Tears may be present.
Poor Fit for a reading copy only.  Heavy damage, to include severely torn/missing cover or pages.
